2021 Vision, Featuring Zenni Optical

IMG_3571.jpeg

I think I’ve made it pretty “clear” by now that my glasses took a literal break at the same time I decided to take a break from social media last year. I mean who knew 2020 (vision) wasn’t all it was cracked up to be? Pre-pandemic and post broken lenses, that is. Anyway, fast forward to 2021, which is quite literally looking different now that I’ve tried on my new glasses from Zenni Optical. And since I’m back on social media (for who knows how long), I thought, why not try some blue light blocking lenses as well? I’ll be honest though, I’m very skeptical (with everything). I get that from my mother and I’m not sorry about it. I can see her in my head right now, shaking her head, as if to urge me to do my research first. And while I did do that, me being me, just had to test it out myself.

The first pair I ordered (pictured below) are these square frames in pink marble (product # 4435819). Honestly, it was love at first site. Yes, you read that correctly — the website where I initially caught a glimpse of them for the very first time. I just really, truly feel like these frames were made for me. The light pink hues with subtle pearl white and just a touch of gold sparkle — 110% my kind of thing. I will say, however, these don’t pair well with every outfit.

The second pair I ordered, are these wide pink frames (product # 662919), which actually appear to be more of a lilac in certain lighting. If you know me by now, you know I love pink, but what you might not know is that I don’t actually have a favourite colour. It often changes based on my mood, so naturally I like that these look a little different depending on how the light hits. Speaking of colour (or lack there of), as I mentioned earlier, I decided to get their “Blokzblue light blockers added into the lenses of these ones. And like I said, I am a skeptic, but I wanted to give them a fair chance, as I’ve heard compelling arguments on both sides of the (HEV) spectrum. I’ll be sure to let you all know more about what I think in the coming days via IG stories. I’m curious to hear your thoughts too though, so feel free to send a message my way!

Now as you can see in the above photos, I ordered two of the faux “leather” cases (one for each pair of glasses), and I chose the colour white for both, which is actually more of a cream colour. I’m not complaining. Please note, these are sold separately from the original blue cases the glasses come in. I honestly just think these cases are much nicer looking and are obviously made with “better” quality material. At approximately $10.00 each, it was well worth getting them (in my opinion). They also come in 3 other colours — black, navy, and the signature Zenni teal, as shown on their website.

Okay, last, but not least — this adorable little tool kit for any potential future repairs. In it, you will find a screwdriver and tweezers, as well as an assortment of screws, nose pad replacements, and rimless frame parts. I really don’t think anyone can go wrong with this add on — you just never know when you’re going to need these things, you know?

Speaking of tools, I want to mention that if you are looking to order prescription glasses, but are unsure of your pupillary distance and/or how to measure it, Zenni has tons of information on that in their “How-to” section. They will tell you everything from what PD means, to how you can measure it yourself, and they even provide a ruler you can print out. I obviously added my prescription to both pairs of frames, and this information was super helpful even just for better understanding as to how our eyes work and why some eyes “don’t work”.

Alright, I think that about covers everything (for now). And for my extra visual people, I have uploaded an unboxing video via IGTV. Currently calling this series, “Have Your Cake & wear it too”, which is basically a segment on textures and textiles. Let me know what you think!

Hope you are all having a wonderful start to the Spring season! Thanks for reading.

Xoxo
